Karen Rebels Are Still FIghting Myanmar Military

According to Karen media, the junta’s southeastern commander was ambushed by a Karen rebel group on Friday during a trip to Myawaddy Township, Karen State.
A splinter group of the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) led by Brigadier General Saw Kyaw Thet ambushed a military convoy on the Kawkareik-Myawaddy highway shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday.
According to the Irrawaddy, an officer from the junta’s Karen Border Guard Force (BGF) said the ambush targeted the commander.
According to the Karen media, four junta soldiers were killed and three others wounded.
However, the BGF officer denied there were any deaths; only injuries occurred, and the commander arrived safely in Myawaddy, he said.
The media reported that junta forces used artillery against nearby villages following the ambush.
There was no comment from the DKBA splinter group.
A junta office was bombed Thursday evening in Bayintnaung ward, Pobbathiri Township, Naypyitaw.
No one was injured, but there was damage to a vehicle and the office.
According to the Naypyitaw People’s Defense Force, the bombing was perpetrated on Friday.
