Gaming Bits: FURIA and Nike Part Ways, Former Activision Employee Goes From Virtual Games To Virtual Books

FURIA Says Good-Bye To Nike
Sources familiar with the situation tell Sports Business Journal that FURIA and Nike have mutually agreed to end their partnership. As a result, FURIA is taking over the production of its jerseys from Nike, though the companies will continue to collaborate on special products in the future, according to sources.
Rafael Gimenes Pereira, former Nike’s Sports Marketing Manager, has been hired as product director for FURIA to conduct the new initiative. FURIA already worked with Pereira while he was at Nike. Prior to joining FURIA, Pereira worked at Nike for 10 years.
Nike signed a partnership deal with FuRIA in 2019.
According to sources, the change was beneficial for both companies, since FURIA had issues making jerseys available to fans because Nike prioritized large-scale wholesale production runs over smaller runs. Sales of FURIA jerseys were not sufficient to commit more time to manufacture than sales of other Nike products, such as jerseys for the Brazilian national soccer team.
The company will also introduce a new e-commerce platform to sell its products, and it expects to make the announcement within a few days.
