Game Bits: British Investment Group Invests $23.4 Million Dollars In Excel Sports, Gamers Outreach Has New Streams Event

Esports Company Gets A Lot Of Dough From Investment Group

The British esports company EXCEL ESPORTS has closed a £17 million ($23.4 million USD) financing round led by investment firm JRJ Group, which acquired a majority interest in 2018 alongside TOMS Capital, the family office of Noam Gottesman. In addition to IPGL (the family office of Michael Spencer), the family office of Alan Howard, and the international private equity firm TNF Investments participated in the round.
In a statement, Excel said it would use the investment proceeds to increase its talent lineup and expand into more esports titles. Aside from bolstering its infrastructure, the organization will expand its operations into new territories and develop XL.gg as a community destination.
Announcing its plans to open its new London headquarters this summer, EXCEL also announced it would open its new office in Shoreditch. A new headquarters will serve as the organization’s headquarters, producing content, hosting community and partner events, and housing its workforce. Additionally, EXCEL will continue to operate its training facilities at Twickenham Stadium and Berlin.
EXCEL also announced that its revenue more than tripled following its first year in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC).
