Hua Hin Wants To Reopen To Expats In October 2021 With Help of COVID-19 Vaccine

Hua Hin will undergo mass vaccinations ahead of Prachuap Khiri Khan (name of the province that Hua Hiin is in) reopening to foreign tourists in October 2021.
The National Tourism Policy Committee recently decided that major tourism provinces such as Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Buri Ram and Bangkok should pilot tourism reopening plans on Oct 1st, 2021 for overseas visitors with valid Covid-19 vaccination certificates.
He suggested that those holding vaccination certificates should not be required to undergo quarantine.
Tourism’s reopening will give a tremendous boost to local businesses that were decimated by the Covid-19 pandemic for over a year.
Krod said he proposed the Hua Hin Recharge Project and hoped for cooperation from the government, the health sector, and the tourism industry.
The aim was to vaccinate a large number of people in Hua Hin and educate everyone about the benefits of vaccination and herd immunity.
Krod said he would ask the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) to approve a supply of vaccine for people in Hua Hin municipality and if granted, the vaccine could be distributed as early as June 1st, 2021.
Traisuree Taisaranakul, a deputy government spokesperson, said Prachuap Khiri Khan is a key tourism destination for local and foreign tourists.
It is hoped that 70% of tourists in the provinces would be immunized before Oct 1st, 2021, she explained. Related government agencies have devised a plan for distributing the vaccine in a timely and effective manner, she said.
In the tourism sector, Traisuree said, frontline workers are the most vulnerable, so they need to be inoculated quickly so the country can restart its tourism economy as soon as possible.
Local and foreign tourists will also benefit from the vaccination, she added. The requests will be submitted to the CCSA later this month for review.
Wassana Srikanjana, president of the Hua Hin-Cha Am Tourism Association, said Hua Hin district is well equipped to deliver the shots, with a number of hospitals and medical facilities available.
The district could welcome at least 100,000 foreign tourists in the last quarter of the year if non-quarantine tourism reopens as planned, said Wassana.
