There is A Limit To ICU Beds in Phuket Public Hospital For COVID-19 Patients

Vachira Phuket Hospital director Chalermpong Sukontapol informed that COVID-19 patients in severe condition are being transferred from a Phuket government hospital to a Phuket private hospital as the government hospital is running out of ICU units. Their condition is down to a critical level.
Presently, there are 9 ICU rooms in the Vachira Phuket Hospital. Five of the rooms are occupied by COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms, while the other four are occupied by COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms. They are being observed before being moved to another bed.
When the 9 rooms are filled with severe cases, Chalermpong believes it will be a critical stage. They might have to transfer patients to other provinces or private hospitals. This could incur additional costs.
On May 10th, 2021, 50% of the patients in Phuket are asymptomatic, 30% of them have mild symptoms, and 10% have severe symptoms. Patients with severe symptoms require a ventilator to help them breathe.
