Myanmar Refugees Are Fleeing To Thailand

According to the local child society network, some Karen refugees fled to the Thai province of Ma Hong Son in the last week of April 2021 after the Myanmar military bombed their shelters.
Earlier in the week, the junta also bombed Karen villages in the Mutrew District of Myanmar.
Karen Peace Support Network (KPSN) said that there were multiple attacks on the Salween River internally displaced camp. People in Thailand could see and hear the explosions caused by the airstrikes.
Female members of the KPSN believe if the military strikes, the 7,000 refugees sheltering along the river will have to go to Thailand for shelter. She also believes Thai officials must open up the border and provide aid to these refugees.
There have been more than 20 bombings by the junta since late March 2021 in the Mutraw District.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), the military wing of the Karen National Union (KNU), controls this area.
In the last week of March 2021, at least 19 people have been killed and 16 injured. A local aid group believes that 40 people have been injured.
This district, which has been hit by a bombing and artillery attack, has displaced an estimated 45,000 people. An estimated 4,000 people live as refugees in the Mon State.
No one has been injured in the most recent bombings in this district.
All the attacks in this district have targeted civilians.
After these attacks, people have hidden in valleys, under rocks, and in caves. They would hide in any location they could find.
Before this week’s attacks, military and drones buzzed this district day and night.
